Students and staff of Robb Elementary School will not be returning to the campus following the deadly shooting on May 24 that claimed the lives of 19 students and 2 teachers.

“We are heartbroken over the loss of our teachers and students, and hold each of their family members close to our hearts.” Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District, Superintendent Dr. Hal Harrell said in a statement on Wednesday.

The district says they are making plans to serve students and faculty at other campuses and will provide additional information at a later date on how they will carry out these changes.

“We know that our lives will never be the same, but we also know that we will join together to honor the lives we lose and build a stronger Uvalde for those who remain,” Harrell said in a statement.

State Sen. Roland Gutierrez , D-San Antonio, said in an interview with KSAT television station that the federal government may tear down the school.

Gutierrez said President Joe Biden told him “we’re going to look to raze the school and build a new one.”

“Because the investigation is ongoing and information is evolving, we are going to reserve comment until all state and federal agencies have completed their review,” he said.

He also says the district will continue to provide counseling services to those in need for the “foreseeable future.”

Frantic Uvalde parents who were urging police to storm Robb Elementary School building are releasing videos and photos showing them being handcuffed and restrained amid school massacre.

“They were doing nothing.” Angeli Rose Gomez told Wall Street Journal “They were just standing outside the fence. They weren’t going in there or running anywhere.”

Gomez has two children in second and third grade and she reportedly drove 40 miles to the school after hearing of the live shooting.

Desperate to rescue her children, she urged Uvalde police to enter the school and they did not.

As Gomez grew increasingly frustrated, federal marshals put Gomez in handcuffs and told her she was under arrest for intervening in an active investigation, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Despite being handcuffed, Gomez was able to convince an Uvalde officer that she knew to have the marshal uncuff her and she managed to move away from the crowd, jump the fence and run inside where she was reunited with her sons.

Gomez says there were other parents also trying to get inside to rescue their children and they were getting tackled and even pepper-sprayed by police.

Angel Garza, whose daughter was killed, was handcuffed after trying to run into the school when he heard that a ‘girl named Amerie’ had been shot.

Garza later told CNN’s Anderson Cooper his heartbreaking story of how he found out his daughter was killed in the attack.

This story is still developing. Check back for updates.
